Practical Academics for the Workplace

Gain important literacy, numeracy and computer literacy skills for the workplace as you:

  • build confidence and independence,
  • gain functional skills with technology
  • raise your self-esteem and sense of safety.
  • apply numeracy with basic math skills such as measurement
  • learn to make change, read a clock and manage your time.
  • learn how to use the internet safely
  • learn how to access a computer for word processing and email.
  • produce a learning and career exploration portfolio.

Depending on your skills, you may exit to competitive employment, supported work, volunteer positions or further specific skills training.  Types of employment will range according to your ability, interest and the local labour market.

Admission Requirements


  • Admission to the Department of Accessible Learning Programs
  • Attend an interview with instructor 
  • Have a cognitive or mental health disability
