Principles of Ecosystem Stewardship Micro-credential

This Principles of Ecosystem Stewardship Micro-credential program introduces theoretical and applied skills relevant for entry-level ecosystem stewardship positions. Instruction encompasses the principal physical, chemical, and biological concepts of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.  Learn ecological principles of conservation and how climate change impacts ecosystems management. The program also includes environmental management strategies in relation to laws, regulations, and policies, as well as principles of professional, ethical, and safe behaviors for all areas of practice.

Or successful completion of FSK 030  if the above requirements are not met.

  1. High School graduation is preferred provided the applicant meets or exceeds the stated prerequisites.

Completion Requirements


  • Students will be required to achieve a minimum C (Letter Grade Scale 2) in each course to pass the program. 
  • The Principles of Ecosystem Stewardship Micro-credential must be completed within 3 years of admission to the program.
  • A minimum of 50% of the program must be completed at North Island College.
