Launch your trades career with training to qualify you to become a plumber, steamfitter/pipefitter or sprinkler fitter. Earn your level 1 technical training credit and work-based training hours toward your Interprovincial (Red Seal) certification when you register as an apprentice. Hone your skills in NIC’s trades shop and expand your knowledge in the classroom and computer lab. Graduate with practical and theoretical knowledge of workplace safety, piping tools and equipment and important job-site documents and qualify for jobs across Canada.

Or successful completion of FSK 030 if the above requirements are not met.

High School graduation is preferred provided the applicant meets or exceeds the stated prerequisites.

PFH - 100 Safe Work Practices in the Piping Trades
PFH - 101 Occupational Skills in the Piping Trades
PFH - 102 Piping Tools
PFH - 103 Piping Equipment
PFH - 104 Residential Plumber
PFH - 105 Steamfitter & Pipefitter
PFH - 106 Sprinkler Fitter
PFH - 107 Applied Mathematics and Science for the Piping Trades
PFH - 108 Construction Drawing & Specifications in the Piping Trades
PFH - 109 Cutting and Welding Tools
PFH - 110 Piping Components
PFH - 111 Electrical Concepts in the Piping Trades
Students not having current, valid First Aid and WHMIS certification are required to take these courses to meet program requirements. Separate fees will be charged for First Aid and WHMIS.

FAC - 020 Emergency First Aid with CPR Level C
Based on availability of placements with industry, Trades Foundation students may have an opportunity to participate in optional Work Experience: WXT 100 Work Experience-Trades Foundation

In this program, students may participate in field trips to industry specific locations.

Completion Requirements

Students will be required to achieve a minimum C (Letter Grade Scale 2) in each course to pass the program. Student will be required to pass all industry certificate courses to achieve program completion requirements.
You must complete 100% of the program at NIC.
