The fundamentals to GIS Mapping and Drone Operations provides introductory training on emerging technologies, standardization of data collection methods, and industry best practices on low-level aerial data collection. Instruction encompasses an introduction to Geographic Information System (GIS) basic tools and applications, digital data collection and integration, query databases, and file management structures for GIS data. The program also encompasses Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) instruction focused on preparing students for the Basic RPAS pilot license exam and introductory remote data collection. The skills gained are transferable across sectors to include forestry, aquaculture, resource and environmental management.

- Must reside in BC and be Canadian Citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons
- Have a SIN and be at least 15
- Must be unemployed or precariously employed (part time, seasonal and/or casual)
- Have been impacted by COVID-19 and are seeking training to obtain a job
