Automotive Collision and Refinishing Technician Foundation Harmonized

Launch your career in the trades with training qualifying you to become an Automotive Refinishing Technician and Auto Body and Collision Technician. You’ll learn about preparing surfaces for painting, mixing paints, and using spray guns. Gain skills in repairing and restoring damaged vehicles including developing repair plans and performing repairs from minor scratches to extensive structure damage. Earn your Level 1 technical training credit and work-based training hours toward your Interprovincial (Red Seal) certification when you register as an apprentice.

Gain valuable skills through theory and applied learning in NIC’s classroom and shop located in Campbell River and then, thanks to the support of our Industry Partner CSN-Reliable Auto Body, advance your skills in a world-class shop setting in Courtenay.

Completion Requirements


  • Students will be required to achieve a minimum C (Letter Grade Scale 2) in each course to pass the program. 
  • Student will be required to pass all industry certificate courses to achieve program completion requirements.
  • 100% of the program must be completed at North Island College.
