Learn more about Automotive Collision and Refinishing Technician Foundation


There is growing industry demand for workers in this trade. Graduates from this program typically find work in automotive dealerships, body repair shops and appraisal centers. This foundation program provides students with Level 1 technical training credit for two ITA programs: Automotive Collision Repair Technician and Automotive Refinishing Technician plus work-based training hours for each specialization.

Upon successful completion, students will have the option to enter an apprenticeship and continue their pathway toward their Interprovincial (Red Seal) certification. Those looking to become Automotive Refinishing Technicians can register to become apprentices and take the NIC’s three-week Level 2 Automotive Refinishing Technician apprenticeship training and then continue on to complete work-based training hours to earn their Red Seal.
