Plumbing and Piping Trades Foundation Harmonized Certificate

Launch your trades career with comprehensive training to become a plumber, steamfitter/pipefitter or sprinkler fitter. Earn your Level 1 technical training credit and work-based training hours toward your Interprovincial Red Seal certification upon registering as an apprentice.

You’ll develop hands-on skills in NIC’s trades shop while expanding your theoretical knowledge in the classroom and computer lab. Learn essential aspects of workplace safety, piping tools and equipment and job-site documentation. Graduate ready to pursue diverse opportunities across Canada with a solid foundation in both practical and theoretical expertise.

  4. High School graduation is preferred provided the applicant meets or exceeds the stated prerequisites.

Additional Information


  • Once accepted to the program, and prior to the end of the first month of the program, students will be expected to ensure they hold and submit a current WHMIS certificate that does not expire before the end of the program.
  • Curriculum and certifications may be subject to change as mandated by SkilledTradesBC. 
  • In this program, field trips to industry specific locations may occur, students’ participation in field trips is mandatory.

Completion Requirements


  • Students are required to achieve a minimum C (Letter Grade Scale 2) in each course to pass the program.  
  • All courses need to be completed at NIC within the start and end dates of the program.
  • Students who exit the program without completing must re-apply and complete all courses again.
