Cabinetmaker (Joiner) Apprenticeship

Advance your woodworking, joinery and cabinetmaking skills with SkilledTradesBC-approved apprenticeship training at NIC. This program builds on your foundational skills as you work toward earning your Red Seal certification. NIC partners closely with industry professionals to ensure your training is of the highest quality, providing you with the expertise and hands-on experience needed to excel in the field. Admission Requirements


1. Registered as an apprentice with SkilledTradesBC

2. Must be working for an employer with at least one qualified journeyperson. 

Not registered as an apprentice?

Ask your employer to register you as an apprentice with SkilledTradesBC. It’s free, simple, and can be completed online or printed and mailed to the SkilledTradesBC Head Office. 

NOTE:  If you have previously applied to our Apprenticeship Program within the last year and now want to register for subsequent levels, please complete the Apprentice Training Registration Form and email it to forms@nic.bc.ca

If it has been more than a year since you have first applied to NIC’s Apprenticeship Program, please submit a new application.

Course Requirements


Apprentices enrolling in technical training must take their training in sequential order, levels 1, then 2, then 3 then 4. You must complete all levels of technical training to be eligible to write the Interprovincial (Red Seal) examination.
