Welder Foundation Harmonized Certificate

Develop advanced skills for diverse careers in the metal trades. Gain expertise in welding and fabrication techniques to build, assemble and repair steel and aluminum products. Earn Level 1 and 2 technical training credit and work-based hours toward your Interprovincial (Red Seal) certification as a Welder or Metal Fabricator when you register as an apprentice. Learn welding techniques, layout, fabrication, metallurgy and drawing for welding from experienced instructors in fully equipped shops, preparing you for roles in industrial manufacturing and fabrication.

Admission Requirements

Or successful completion of FSK 030 if the above requirements are not met.

High school graduation is preferred provided the applicant meets or exceeds the stated prerequisites.

WFH - 100 Occupational Skills
WFH - 101 Cutting and Gouging Processes
WFH - 102 Fusion, Braze and Braze Welding (TB) Using the Oxy-Fuel (OFW) Process
WFH - 103 Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
WFH - 105 Semi-Automatic and Automatic Welding
WFH - 106 Basic Metallurgy
WFH - 107 Welding Drawings Layout and Fabrication
WFH - 110 Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
Students not having current, valid First Aid and WHMIS certification are required to take these courses to meet program requirements. Separate fees will be charged for First Aid and WHMIS.

FAC - 020 Emergency First Aid with CPR Level C
Based on availability of placements with industry, Trades Foundation students may have an opportunity to participate in optional Work Experience: WXT 100 Trades Work Experience

In this program, students may participate in field trips to industry specific locations.

Completion Requirements

Students will be required to achieve a minimum C (Letter Grade Scale 2) in each course to pass the program.
