Introduction to Natural Resource Management Micro-credential


This program offers students the opportunity to develop an understanding of the complex, multidisciplinary nature of natural resouce managment in BC, exploring the legal, cultural, social, and ecological considerations using real-world examples. Through guided discussions with resouce professionals and Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, CFW 100 and 101 will examine the evolving framework of resource managment. CFW 104 introduces BC’s system of Biogeoclimatic Ecosystem Classification (BEC), flora identification, and ecosystem function. 

Audience: those working in natural resouce management support roles; interested individuals; entry level employment.

This credential offers a pathway to futher credentials via the Coastal Forest Worker Certificate.

  3. Or successful completion of FSK 030  if the above requirements are not met.
  4. High School graduation is preferred but not required provided the applicant meets or exceeds the stated prerequisites.

Completion Requirements


  • Students will be required to achieve a minimum C (Letter Grade Scale 1) in each course to pass the program. 
  • The Program must be completed within 2 years.
  • A minimum of 50% of the program must be completed at North Island College.
