Prep Cook Certificate

Develop essential workplace skills, safety knowledge and job readiness to launch a career in the food services industry. You will learn how to prepare soups, sauces, baked goods, and more in modern teaching kitchens while also gaining valuable work experience in local restaurants. You will be qualified for employment as a prep cook, porter or food service worker in a commercial kitchen, restaurant or resort.

Admission Requirements

Satisfactory completion of the Prep Cook Assessment.
Students can prepare for the Prep Cook Assessment using the Prep Cook Assessment Study Guide.
Once the assessment is completed, students may be invited to an interview.

Course Requirements

PCK - 100 Cooking Fundamentals
Students without current valid certificates in the following courses are required to take them to meet program completion requirements. Separate fees will be charged.
TFS - 010 FoodSafe Level I
WSF - 019 Orientation to WHMIS Online
OFA - 010 Occupational First Aid Level 1 or
FAC - 020 Emergency First Aid with CPR Level C
Note: In this program, students may participate in field trips to industry specific locations.

Completion Requirements

Students will be required to achieve a minimum C (Letter Grade Scale 2) in PCK 100 and will be required to pass all industry certificate courses to achieve program completion requirements.
