SSA - 101 Stars and Deep Space Astronomy 3 Credit(s) This is a lab science course that will introduce topics in deep space astronomy including: observational astronomy; stars and stellar evolution; stellar remants such as neutron stars and black holes; exosolar planets; galaxies and galactic evolution; evidence for dark matter; and Big Bang cosmology. This course will also explore related topics in physics and chemistry such as: light and the electromagnetic spectrum, gravity, relativity, and the origin of the chemical elements. Students will learn about the scientific method and apply these principles in a variety of lab exercises and observing projects.

- C+ in one of Principles of Math 11, Foundations of Math 11, Pre-Calculus, MAT 053 or MAT 055 ; or successful math assessment
