Learn More About Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship Harmonized


All NIC Training programs follow the criteria set by the Industry Training Authority (ITA) to ensure your trades qualifications meet current industry standards. NIC works closely with industry to ensure your apprenticeship training is of the highest quality. For more information on apprenticeships visit the ITA website. Apprentice training builds on your foundation skills as you pursue your Red Seal certification. Take advantage of modern facilities and small class sizes to develop skills with tools, equipment, and machinery so you’re prepared to work in a wide range of automotive shops.

To Be Successful

  • You will find greater ease and success in your training if your abilities in mathematics, reading and writing are at a sufficient level. NIC Assessment Services is available to provide math and English assessments year-round. If you need to refresh your skills or upgrade in a few areas, those classes are available at NIC.
  • We encourage you to develop a workplace plan with your employer to make sure you are practicing all related trade skills.
  • School training periods can be very intense, especially because of the quantity of reading you will be required to do. Whenever possible, you are encouraged to complete readings in advance.

Classroom Supplies

  • Padlock or Combination Lock
  • 3 ring binder
  • Loose leaf paper and graph paper
  • Pen/ pencil / hi-liter
  • Scientific Calculator (optional)

In addition, NIC is pleased to make shop tools available to students in exchange for a refundable tool deposit which will be returned at the end of the term if all tools and tags are returned in an acceptable condition.
