Launch your culinary career and expand your skills in well-equipped training facilities, including the Bistro in Campbell River and the Roger Street Bistro in Port Alberni. You’ll learn from highly-experienced, qualified instructors as you develop core culinary skills while earning your Level 1 technical training credit and work-based training hours toward your Interprovincial (Red Seal) certification when you register as an apprentice.

Admission Requirements


Option 1

Or successful completion of FSK 030  if the above requirements are not met.

  1. High school graduation is preferred provided the applicant meets or exceeds the stated prerequisite
  2. Successful completion of FoodSafe Level 1

Or Option 2

  1. Successful North Island College Culinary Arts program assessment. For more information, check the Culinary Arts Assessment Study Information
  2. Successful completion of FoodSafe Level 1

Before Classes Begin

Once you have been accepted to the program but before classes begin, you are required to complete the following questionnaire.  You must bring the completed questionnaire with you to the first day of class. Download the PDF or pick up a copy at Student Services. (Exception: High school students applying through the Dual Credit application process do NOT need to submit the questionnaire.)

Course Requirements


Dates and classes may change or be cancelled depending on demand. 

Completion Requirements


Students will be required to achieve a minimum C (Letter Grade Scale 2).
