Employment Transition Grounds & Custodial Assistant

The Employment Transition Grounds & Custodial Assistant program is a supportive program that teaches students essential employability and industry specific skills for work in grounds maintenance and custodial industries.   Students participate in employability courses that teach behaviors that lead to successful access to, and retention of, employment.  The targeted skills courses in the basic grounds maintenance/horticulture and custodial/light duty cleaner provide industry relevant training.  This program also provides an opportunity to gain work related certificates including FoodSafe Level 1, WHMIS, First Aid and Worker Safety.

A career exploration /job shadow and a supported 4 work experience placement where students can practice skills on the job are included in the program.

Depending on your skills, you may exit to competitive employment, supported work, volunteer positions or further specific skills training. Types of employment will range according to your ability, interests and the local labour market, but may include hotel/motels; schools; recreation centres; hospitals/health care centers; daycares; seniors care facilities; city & regional parks; golf courses; greenhouses; garden centers.
