Choose one of four immersive courses; Grip Film Training, Lighting Film Training, Production Assistant Training, Carpentry and Set Construction Training.

Grip Film Training: Learn how grips work with a director of photography and camera and lighting departments to set up those professional shots. Understand industry protocols and the important role grips play in each and every set-up. Grips are the technical jacks of all trades on set, so if you enjoy hard work, have a technical aptitude, are a team player and have the desire to work in a creative industry, you will be well-suited for this program.

Lighting Film Training: You’ll learn fundamental skills to assist in development and execution of lighting schemes on film and TV sets. This course will prepare you to play a pivotal role in the fast-paced world of film production. Learn to assist, develop and execute lighting schemes, all while ensuring electrical considerations are safely addressed on set. Course material will also cover planning and coordination of work orders, the applied use of fixtures, filters, carts, stands and advanced equipment and tool use. You’ll thrive in this program if you enjoy problem solving and teamwork, and have a good level of fitness, an eye for detail, creativity and energy and the ability to work long hours. Having an electrical background is an asset but not required.

Production Assistant Training: Gain essential skills and industry knowledge to pursue entry-level employment as a production assistant on a film set. You will be able to explore career options while learning the requirements of working in the film industry. Learn fundamental on-set skills, including communication with other crew departments, on-set protocols, radio use, film terminology and more.

Carpentry and Set Construction Training: Gain the skills to play an integral role in the design, construction and take-down of sets of all sizes and scopes, from quaint scenes to grand sets involving the reproduction of court buildings, restaurants, spaceships, houses, elaborate staircases, ships, outdoor structures and more. Training includes the essentials of safety, communication and key terminology, interdepartmental relations and protocols, roles and expectations, specialty tool requirements, the unique attributes of set construction materials and more. If you enjoy working as part of a team and combining energy and creativity with the ability to work long hours, this program will give you the skills you need. Experience or interest in carpentry and tools is helpful, but formal training is not required for this program.
