Learn fundamental design, planning and construction skills and start a career as a carpentry and set construction crew member. Training encompasses an orientation to the film industry and workplace requirements, essentials of worksite safety, communications, key terminology, interdepartmental relations and protocols, roles and expectations, specialty tool requirements and usage, unique attributes of set construction materials and handling, and the fundamentals of set planning, design, construction, and takedown. In an applied setting, students will construct a mock set following the key phases of film and television set construction.
A carpentry background is an asset, but not required, but mechanical aptitude and comfort with carpentry and tools are essential for success.
