Fabricator-Welder Foundation Harmonized

Develop advanced skills and qualify for a wide range of job opportunities in the metal trades. Learn a variety of welding and fabrication techniques while you gain skills to build, assemble and repair products made of steel and aluminum. Earn level 1 metal fabricator and level 1 welder technical training credit and work-based training hours toward your Interprovincial (Red Seal) certification for either trade when you register as an apprentice.

Admission Requirements

Or successful completion of FSK 030 if the above requirements are not met.

High school graduation is preferred provided the applicant meets or exceeds the stated prerequisites.

FFH - 106 Materials Handling & Weight Calculations
FFH - 107 Welding Processes in Metal Fabrication
FFH - 108 Thermal Cutting Equipment And Processes
FFH - 109 Quality Control in Metal Fabrication
FFH - 110 Material Fabrication of Components
FFH - 111 Oxy-Fuel Fusion Welding, Braze Welding, and Brazing
FFH - 112 Fundamentals of Shielded Metal Arc Welding

Students not having current, valid First Aid, WHMIS and Forklift certification are required to take these courses to meet program requirements. Separate fees will be charged for First Aid, WHMIS and Forklift courses.

Based on availability of placements with industry, Trades Foundation students may have an opportunity to participate in an optional Work Experience: WXT 100 Work Experience - Trades Foundation.

*Note: In this program, students may participate in field trips to industry specific locations.

Completion Requirements

Students will be required to achieve a minimum C (Letter Grade Scale 2) in each course to pass the program.
Student will be required to pass all industry certificate courses to achieve program completion requirements.
