HSW - 170 Educational Assistant/Community Support Practice Experience I

Students complete a part-time practicum in an agency, facility or school setting for a total of 72 practicum hours (typically 6 hours per week for 12 weeks) and attend a 2 hour seminar each week. The practicum site is chosen to complement the course selection and certificate designation. This experience emphasizes a generic approach with a focus on the establishment of a knowledge base, initial skill development, and an understanding of professional expectations. Weekly seminars assist students to make a connection between theory and their practice while building proficiency at self-evaluation.
