GEO - 214 Biogeography 3 Credit(s) This course examines the changes in the geographic distribution patterns of plants and animals over geologic time. The attributes of the life layer involved in these shifting relationships are investigated from the geographic perspective. Sampling concepts, methods and tools of analysis are introduced. Some of the topics covered are: the basics of a functioning life layer, feedback in natural systems, disturbance and succession, interpreting distribution patterns, changing continents and climate, colonization, dispersal and invasion, genetic modification, extinctions, conservation and conservation planning.
