Program Highlights
If you have a Bachelor of Business Administration from a recognized institution, this program will provide all of the prerequisites required to enter into the CPA certification program as well as knowledge of business principles.
In year one, you will develop a strong foundation in accounting (both managerial and financial), finance, Canadian taxation, corporate finance, business writing, and ethics. You will also choose one elective, with options in commercial law, accounting computer applications, quantitative methods, information systems, organizational behavior and economics. You will begin to put theory into practice in courses such as BUS 293 , where you will apply knowledge gained from several business disciplines to manage a company in an online business simulation. You will become part of a management team, making strategic business decisions in an effort to achieve a competitive advantage in your industry.
In year two, you will deepen your accounting and business understanding with advanced topics such as advanced managerial and financial accounting, corporate taxation, auditing and strategic management.
You will graduate with relevant work experience gained through your program internship and will be well- positioned for a career in accounting.
Are you an international student? With two years of academic study and accounting-related internship supported by NIC, you will be eligible to apply for a three-year Canadian work permit upon graduation.
